okay i'm not good at this posting thing, but here's a summary of what i did last week and today...if i can remember it all. on Thurs. i had a sheep's brain dissection, which was supposed to be the HIGHLIGHT of my week. yeh...not so much. my two lab partners, instead of actually LOOKING for parts of the brain (hippothalamus, optic nerve, amygdala, etc.), decided to simply hack the brain into pieces. ARGH. they did however, succeed in completely excising the hippocampus, which indeed was an interesting structure. on the other hand, my cognitive neuroscience professor is hella cool, so that made the lab a bit better.

latin whipped me SO hard. that may have been due to the fact that i hadn't translated ANYTHING for that week and i still do not have a latin-english dictionary. i need to get on that...anyway, i looked like the biggest ass in class (well, there were only five others, but that didn't help much). i shall remind myself never to do that again, if i can remember.

after much moping and brooding and wallowing in despair, i finally had a heart-to-heart (wow, doesn't that sound cheesy?) with my roommate over the whole hall situation, which had, believe it or not, gotten even worse. apparently i had offended someone with my sarcasm. i don't understand. i derided her with a smile. anyone who knows the type of person that i am knows that if i insult one with a smile, it is a term of ENDEARMENT. bah. i ended up speaking to the roommate of the offended one to find out what the hell was going on, and of course, to clear the fiasco. it was weird. after i spoke to her, things got a LOT better...hm...

bio has beaten me into a bloddy pulp only to pick me up and BEAT ME AGAIN. group labs...especially with a group who is not very careful with their measurements...OY. and all these pre-labs and random hw due dates...i can barely remember what day it is, let alone what is due on that day. i'm going to have to fix that as, well, somehow. hahah, notice how i have stopped identifying events with days...LOL.

oh, my love, thy name is HALO...man that game is SWEET. i'm not a big gamer, though i'm well on my way if only i could manage my time better. but that is the game of my floor. i have progressed from running into walls, looking straight up or straight down, shooting at corners and turning in circles to ACTUALLY KILLING PEOPLE. and i have only played four times. i'm well on my way to becoming the HALO MASTER...or maybe not. i'll just have to keep shooting...

ah, yes, i have not forgotten. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ellen on 19 Sept. (19 on the 19th! GOLDEN BIRTHDAY), Francesca on 21 Sept. (yay! you're finally legal!) and Marisol today (go shorty, it's yr birfday, we're gonna party like it's yr birfday...)! ah, that's it. i'm out.

i feel tired all the time for some strange reason; i think i'm coming down with something. at least the weather's nicer...not the blistering heat that i had encountered upon arrival. anyway...

i had my first bio lab today. good times. we made sheep's blood cells lyse, and had fun destroying beet cells and putting the solution in a spectrophotometer. gadgets are fun...

i met a musician named ali handal this evening at the 5-C Activities Fair. she has some mad guitar skills. she did a cover of ani difranco's "shameless," and ACTUALLY SOUNDED LIKE ANI. it was crazy. she has got to be one of the coolest people i have ever spoken to in my entire life. i might be interning at her record label this summer...maybe get some lessons while i'm at it...we'll see how that goes...

so, i spent about a week trying to meet people on my hall, and all for naught. granted, i am not great at the whole conversation bit, but i do feel that i am trying. i am constantly ignored and rejected, either by a complete disregard of my comments and questions, by the ongoing of said conversation with the pretense that i had never spoken at all, or, worst of all, by the group simply up and leaving. i have realised that most people only like me when they are drunk and/or stoned...or when they need to bum a cigarette. c'est la vie, yes? yes, yes, such is life.

oy. i have finally succumbed to the trend officially known as the BLOG. my rants just wouldn't fit into my AIM profile, so now i have this at my every whim. for those of you who did not know already (and that, most likely, would be most of you), i am at Pitzer College. my friend Sean finally convinced me to create a blog in which to write my tedious tirades and pathetic poetry (and of course, to keep track of quotidian ennui), so...here you go.
